Frequently Asked Questions

How many passengers can you carry?

We are surveyed to carry a maximum of 2 crew + 22 passengers.

If you arrange stewards from your caterer then this will reduce the number of passengers permitted on board.

To illustrate; 2 crew, 1 steward + 21 passengers.

What do I need to bring?

We recommend bringing the following, however please pack lightly as we need to provide storage for 22 passengers:

  • Bathers
  • Camera
  • Flat sole shoes (preferably no black soles or high heels)
  • Hat
  • Jacket/Windbreaker (recommended during all seasons)
  • Sunglasses
  • Towel

PROVIDED ON BOARD

  • Large ice-boxes
  • Sunscreen

Do you offer Catering?

No, however we can refer you to recommended caterers. See our Quicklinks page for Caterers.

If you wish to keep your catering costs low then why not consider a BYO option and utilise the on board facilities, our crew will provide assistance in the galley.

All the information for your catering requirements with regard to our galley facilities can be found in the Shore Thing Specification Sheet.

Please contact our office advising of all catering arrangements.

Is alcohol permitted on board?

Yes, however as we are not licensed premises, we cannot sell or serve alcoholic beverages.

Charterers are more than welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages on board for personal consumption. It is preferred that any alcohol brought on board is in packaged in cans.

Should you require pre-arranged beverages to be delivered to the vessel on your behalf, check our Quicklinks page for our preferred suppliers. You can place your order with their friendly staff for delivery. On completion of your charter, you can take any remaining beverages home with you or arrange for a pick up the next day business day.

.

PLEASE BE ADVISED

  • No shooters or bottled spirits are permitted on board.
  • We encourage people to enjoy alcohol responsibly.
  • Any behaviour the Master deems inappropriate may result in your charter being terminated with immediate effect.

Are Personal Flotation Devices provided for all adults as well as children on board the vessel?

Yes, however based on the following conditions and with regard to your child’s safety please be advised as follows;

.

WHAT IS A PFD?

  • Personal Flotation Device, commonly referred to as a Life Jacket

PFD’s SUPPLIED ON BOARD

For a maximum of 22 passengers with varying weights and sizes.

  • ADULTS:         22 x Type 1 PFD’s | suitable for persons 32 kg and above
  • CHILDREN:      4 x Type 1 PFD’s | suitable for children 25-40 kg
  • CHILDREN:      4 x Type 1 PFD’s | suitable for children 12-25 kg
  • CHILDREN:      2 x Type 1 PFD’s | suitable for children 10-15 kg

IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

To review the above list of PFD’s on board and acknowledge that if we do not carry a PFD suited to the child/children booked on your charter then you must provide your own PFD/s.

To ensure that your child is fitted with an approved PFD, please refer to the below charter destinations to determine the minimum type of PFD required .

  • Swan River:                                         Type 2, PFD
  • Coast, Carnac or Rottnest Island:  Type 1, PFD

We strongly recommend that all children 1 – 7 years of age wear a PFD at all times when on board the vessel. Please contact our office if you require further clarification.

PLEASE BE AWARE

  • Your child will not be permitted to board our vessel unless they are fitted with the correct PFD.
  • Each child must be accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian and must be closely supervised by at least one adult at ALL TIMES.
  • Children under 12 months of age are not permitted on board our vessel.

BABIES and INFANTS Because of the varying weight distribution of babies and infants it is difficult to safely fit them with an approved floatation device. With this in mind we stand by our decision not to allow children less than 12 months old on board any of our vessels.

SELECTING A SUITABLE PFD

For older children as well as adults, there are three important considerations to account for when selecting a suitable PFD;

  • the weight range is compatible with the persons weight;
  • it is a snug fit (loose PFD’s work poorly and can slip off in the water);
  • is comfortable to wear.

What happens to my charter booking if poor weather conditions are forecast?

Charters are only executed in suitable weather conditions to ensure the safety of our passengers, crew and vessel.

Our office and vessel Masters continually monitor marine weather forecasts issued by the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) however there is always a 40% chance of inaccuracy either way; positive or negative.

Only Corporate Charters reserves the right to cancel a charter because of inclement weather and may not declare a cancellation in some cases until 30 minutes prior to boarding the vessel as the weather can be unpredictable at times.

A second option for the charter booking may be offered such as a cruise in a sheltered waterway (e.g. Swan River) however if we do cancel due to inclement weather you will be offered to reschedule to an available date and time or receive a refund.

Why is there a Bond ?

  • A bond is required prior to all charters being executed and will be approved for refund within 24-48 hours upon completion of the charter; provided there is no damage or loss sustained by Corporate Charters.
  • Prior to departure the Master and Crew will conduct a safety briefing and explain the on board house rules.
  • Part or all of the bond may be deducted from the Charterer for a number of reasons including but not limited to;
    • Lost or damaged water sports equipment.
    • Excessive cleaning or damage to the vessel and/or its equipment and furnishings (e.g. from beverage spills to cigarette burns).
    • Any other damage or loss to the vessel in which the Master deems the Charterer responsible.
  • Bond will not be deducted for fair wear and tear.
.

REMEMBER IT’S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY…

  • As the Charterer to ensure that all of your guests conduct themselves in a respectful manner to protect your bond.

.

WHAT IF THE BOND AMOUNT IS EXCEEDED?…

  • Should the damage or loss incurred by Corporate Charters be in excess of the bond amount then the Charterers and Owners (Corporate Charters) must attempt to mutually agree on a financial solution in a timely fashion by means of obtaining quotes for cleaning and/or repairs to the Owners satisfaction.
  • If the matter cannot be resolved then the case will be referred to our insurance company and in some cases our legal advisers which may warrant a recharge to the Charterers.

.

TERMINATION OF CHARTER…

  • If the Master deems that an individual/s presents a possible risk to the safety of passengers, the crew and/or the vessel; the Master reserves the right to cease any charter with immediate effect and may disembark/remove any individual and/or entire group of passengers at the nearest shore side location without refund to the Charterer.
  • In cases where the Charterer and guests are unruly, reckless or deemed to be out of control by the Master then Corporate Charters will not hesitate to involve the Water Police.

I lost (or damaged) my personal equipment on a charter, what can I do?

Please call us to check if your item has been handed in to our Lost Property. Arrangements can be made for pick up once proof of ownership has been established, however Corporate Charters does not assume liability for any loss of, or damage to, personal property that passengers may bring on board. This includes, but is not limited to; accidental loss of items overboard, water damage, fire, smoke, or theft. ALL personal property brought on board is at the passenger’s own risk.

Passengers are strongly urged to check with their personal insurance company for appropriate coverage in the event of loss or damage.

Can I smoke on board?

Yes, only in the designated smoking area unless otherwise restricted by the Master.

  • >48 hours notice: Refund of payment, 20% cancellation charge applies.
  • 24 – 48 hours notice: Refund of payment, 50% cancellation charge applies.
  • Less than 24 hours notice: No refund payable.

What happens if I get sea sick?

We strongly recommend that if you’re feeling seasick then please notify our crew members as soon as possible.

.

TIPS FOR SEA SICKNESS

The best place place to be is in the open air.

Make sure to drink plenty of freshwater as sea sickness will dehydrate you quickly.

From our experience taking sea sickness tablets at least 12 hours prior to boarding the vessel is the best prevention.

Please consult your Medical Practitioner and/or Pharmacist for suitable medication as we are not permitted to sell or supply sea sickness medication.
